Wayne Edward Ulrich was born June 26, 1934 in Houston, Texas. He passed from his earthly struggle into the arms of the Lord on May 26, 2017 at his home in San Angelo. Wayne was born to Allice Lois Ulrich and James Edward Harkness. At the age of nine Wayne was adopted by Herman F. "Red" Ulrich, a prominent architect in Houston. Wayne attended Trinity University in San Antonio. There he met Mary Elizabeth Mitcham. They were married December 23, 1960. She preceded him in death, passing away on March 8, 2001. Wayne enjoyed cigars, especially the Zino. He began spending time at the Colonel's Pipe Shop, becoming one of the regulars. He became intrigued with the business and eventually purchased the business during the prime of the cigar craze. He took on the persona of "The Colonel" with a handlebar mustache and cigar in hand. He retired again after selling the business to his eldest daughter Mimi.
