Rosie was born on February 14, 1943 (Valentine's Baby) in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Emmett and Ione (Phelps) Albenesius. She attended elementary school at Brushy Bend in rural Dakota City, graduated from South Sioux City High School and Wayne State Teacher's College. Rosie taught Kindergarten in the Omaha Public School District for 39 years. After her retirement, she moved back to Sioux City to be closer to her family.

She was a member of the National Education Association and Omaha Teacher's Union. Her heart always belonged to her home church, St. Patrick's in Jackson.

Her nieces and nephews were the love of her life, along with her school children. She cherished receiving letters from former students who shared with her how she had made a difference in their lives. She loved to cook, savored a good meal, and genuine conversation around the table. Rosie loved holidays, especially Christmas, when the family made peanut brittle (a Christmas tradition). Her family celebrated "Rosie's Christmas Feast" on Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Albenesius'. She also enjoyed ceramics and playing Bingo.

Survivors include her brother, Emmett (Carol) Albenesius of Dakota City, NE; nieces and nephews, Chris (Beth) Vos and their sons, Jonathon and Caleb, Tonia (Troy) Emmons and their children, Trevon, Tori, Travis and Tyler, Danies Lundquist and her children, Makayla and Derek, Veronica (Jeff) Schmidt and their children, Brent and Brooklynn, Amanda (Mike) Husmann and their daughters, Abigail, Shaylee and Briella, Angela (Troy) Plueger and their daughters, Maya and Adalynn "Addy", Laura (Mick) Lockert and their children, Carter and Caitlin, Eric (Meghan) Albenesius and their sons, Leo and Jack, Brian Albenesius and his girlfriend, Sara Tvrdy, Kevin Albenesius, and Scott Albenesius.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designations to be made at a later time.

"Rosie and I met in college at Neihardt Hall on second floor in Wayne, Ne. We had so many late night laughs! We continued our friendship when we started our teaching careers in Omaha, Ne. We were roommates for several years. She was also a bridesmaid in our wedding in 1968! It was always easy to pick up the phone on February 14 and call her or send her a birthday card on this special Valentine's Day birthday! She truly was a "rose"bud!! It was short and sweet to reconnect with her on Facebook. My husband and I recently moved back to Omaha and hoping to see Rosie this summer. Her love of teaching little "kinigartners", as she called them, drove her faithfully to school with vim and vigor everyday! She was always full of stories of so many special moments! Yes, she will be missed for her enthusiasm of living her life with much love for her family and friends! So very sorry she has passed on and I know her memory will be cherished! My sympathy to her close family who loved her so dearly. Respectfully, Jan (Lundberg) Gale"

"Rosie and I were roommates for several years when we were both starting out our teaching careers in Omaha. Rosie loved teaching kindergarten and was devoted to her students. I remember they used to call her "Miss Delicious" because pronouncing her last name was too hard. She was known to her friends as Rosebud and I can still hear her characteristic laugh - it was so contagious you had to join in. She had a heart of gold, a compassionate spirit, and a smile that lit up a room. I cherish the times I spent with her and was glad we connected last year on Facebook. May she rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to her family."
