Ricardo Vernal Boothe, 34, passed away May 20, 2017. He was born November 19, 1982 in East Meadow, New York, the son of Vernal and Carol. Ricky graduated from Charlotte High School, where he was a member of the Football and wrestling team in 2001. Many knew Ricky throughout highschool as "Big Rick".

Ricky is survived by his parents Vernal Boothe and Carol Henry; his spouse Janice Roberts and sons Jayden and Anthony Boothe. He also leaves behind his brother Jordan Boothe and sisters Jenniffer Henry and Natasha Boothe and his niece Dezyre Harry.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the New Testament Church of God, 21011 Midway Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Burial to follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd. Englewood, FL 34223. OBITUARY FOR THE LIFE OF RICARDO VERNAL BOOTHE
November 19, 1982 - May 20, 2017
What is man that we are so mindful of? We are like flowers that bloom so lovely
in the morning and by evening it withers and dies. Today we are remembering our
dear son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and coworker in a happy
way. Let us give thanks for the moments, we have had such privilege to be with
and shared happy and sad memories with.
Ricardo Vernal Boothe affectionately called "Ricky" by his family and "Big Rick" by
his friends was born at East Meadow Hospital, New York on November 19, 1982
to parents Carol Henry-Boothe and Vernal Boothe.
In 1987 the family moved from New York to Port Charlotte, Florida. Ricky
attended Deep Creek Elementary, Port Charlotte Middle School, Charlotte High
School. At Charlotte High School he excelled in his studies and was also a part of
the wrestling and football teams. After high school he attended Edison College,
where he took some college courses.
Ricky loved to work and to earn his own money, he began working at the tender
age of 14 years old selling subscriptions for the local newspaper. He held other
jobs such as Dietary Aid at South Port Square, Stocker at Winn-Dixie and Manager
at Burger king. He also worked in the construction field, he was a master of all
trades when it came to operating heavy machinery. If it had wheels on it he could
operate it.
In 2006, following in his Father's footsteps Ricky decided to go for his Commercial
Driver's License and started working for several trucking companies travelling long
and short distances. Ricky was always looking ahead for ways to provide and
make a better life and opportunity for his family. He envisioned owning his own
trucking business one day, and in 2015 this vision came to life. He purchased his
own truck/trailer and started working for himself up until the time of his untimely
death on May 20th, 2017.
Ricardo was a hardworking person, a good provider and enjoyed spending time
with his family. He met his lifelong friend, partner and mother of his children
Janice Roberts in 2003. Together they have two children Jayden Ricardo, 10 yrs.
old and Anthony Henry, 3 yrs. old.
Janice remembers him as being caring, funny, a good father and partner. His
mom Carol remembers her son as being quiet, loving, kind and a gentle soul. His
dad Vernal remembers their closeness and the many telephone conversations
they shared while Ricky was driving long halls out on the road.
Left to mourn his passing are his mother and father, Carol & Vernal, his lifelong
love and partner Janice, children Jayden and Anthony. Brother Jordan, Sisters;
Jenniffer, Natasha, Cassandra, Diane, Claire, Laura and other siblings. Extended
families, grandparents Naomi & Raymond Williamson, his favorite niece Dezyre,
Aunts & Uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins and a host of friends and coworkers.
Our hearts holds deep sadness, may it also hold the blessings of the life you
shared with Ricky, and his love that will always be a part of you. Also,
remembering that love lives on in stories and songs, and in youth who towards
life's fullness grope. Loved ones do live on in the inheritance of love... be life
short or long. We can also find comfort in our Heavenly Father as He reminds us
in John 14 v 18 "I will not leave you comfortless I will come to you"
We will always remember you my dear son, father, brother, uncle, cousin nephew
and friend.
