Ethel Hahn
March 6, 1933 - June 25, 2017

DeForest - Ethel Rae Hahn, age 84, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born March 6, 1933 in DeForest, the daughter of Henry and Alice (Paulson) Thompson.  She married Don Hahn on October 6, 1951, and together they had 3 children, Debbie, Lonny and Mark.

Ethel was a hardworking farm wife, who always helped with the farm operation.  Whenever farm work was finished, there was always a homemade meal on the table.  She enjoyed working in her beautiful flower garden, and canned from her homegrown vegetables. Everyone always got a special homemade birthday cake.  In her life, she volunteered as a 4-H leader, Christ Lutheran Sunday school teacher, at Lutefisk dinners and funeral luncheons. Ethel loved to bowl, play Euchre, was known to visit Ho-Chunk, and enjoyed time spent with her Red Hatter group.  She previously worked at A&W in Windsor and American Girl in DeForest.  She was a loving and generous wife, mother and grandmother.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Don; children, Debbie (Louie) Meister of Poynette, Lonny (Lu Ann) Hahn of DeForest and Mark (Kym) Hahn of Dane; grandchildren, Brian (Donna) and Shawn (Karla) Meister, Melissa, Ryan and Kirsten Hahn, Amber (Aaron) Pedersen and Dustin Hahn; great grandchildren, Austin Taylor, Ashia and Ashton Meister and Lydia Rae Pedersen; siblings, Barb (Bob) Bakke of Dane and Gerry (Gene) Hoffmann of Florida; brother-in-law, Dean (Eileen) Hahn; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Mary (Ray) Kelley and brother-in-law, David Hahn.

A Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 220 S. Main Street, DeForest.  Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of service.  Luncheon immediately following the service.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.
