Nancy was born on October 20, 1943, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Homer M. and Lillian M. Lappin Hynick. She married Dwayne Frederick Stoos on November 6, 1971, at the St. Mary Church in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2012.

Nancy was a housewife and stay-at-home mother. In later years, she worked for the Bandag Credit Union and also at Pinecreek Studio. Nancy was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish, P.E.O.; T.T.T. and the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra.

She enjoyed reading, cross-stitch, knitting, and music with her passion being the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. She played in and served in many volunteer positions simultaneously with the Symphony until health issues deemed it impossible for her to serve in the many volunteer positions she had with the symphony. She served many years as an usher at St. Mathias Church, a girl scout leader. She and her husband, Dwayne, were instrumental in starting Boy Scout Troop 783. Nancy was Scoutmaster for Troop 783 for three years following her husband's tenure as Scoutmaster and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joshua Stoos and wife, Candace, of Ely, and Jennifer Schreiner and husband, Kory, of Letts; five grandchildren, Madison, Owen, and Samantha Schreiner, and Rylan and Noah Stoos; her mother, Lillian M. Hynick of Ottumwa; two sisters, Barbara Krusemark of Oskaloosa and Diana Bokhoven of New Sharon; one brother-in-law, Roger Stoos and wife, Neva, of Rockwell City; three sister-in-law's, Theresa Walter and husband, Richard, of Rockwell City, Cloette Stoos of Lake City, and Barbara Stoos of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; one brother, Neil Hynick; her maternal grandparents; her paternal grandparents; and three brother-in-law's, Robert Krusemark, Gary Bokhoven, and James Stoos.
