Darlene M. Snively

Darlene M. Snively, 85, of Keokuk, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Great River Hospital in Burlington, Iowa.

Darlene was born in Keokuk on October 21, 1931, the daughter of William McKinnley and Edna McGruder Hampton. She was united in marriage to Horace "Sonny" Snively in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1999.

A lifelong resident of Keokuk, Darlene was a member of Bethel AME and New Bethel Church, and was employed at Sheller-Globe in production. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and faithfully lived her life in service to the Lord. In her spare time, Darlene enjoyed ceramic painting.

Darlene is survived by her son Sonny Snively of Keokuk; three daughters: Teresa (Richard) Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; Renee (David) Snively of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Twana (Kelvin) Snively of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sister Delores Bradley of Keokuk; and her lapdog Chico. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Horace; her brother McKinnley Hampton, Sr.; and three sisters (Rosemary Buckner, Ecksteine Galbreath, Maxine Buckner) granddaughter Ivy Smith and great granddaughter Nora Smith.

Darlene's life will be celebrated with a homegoing service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at New Bethel Church, with Reverend Richard L. Smith and Pastor Debbie Fletcher officiating, burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held Friday, June 30 for family and friends between 5 and 9 PM at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street in Keokuk, Iowa.
