In loving memory of

M. Catherine Holmes
December 31, 1923 - June 29, 2017

Mary Catherine Holmes, the daughter of Edwin and Lettie (Hookham) Baugh was born at Coin, Iowa on December 31, 1923 and entered into rest on June 29, 2017 at George Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa attaining the age of 93 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Catherine grew up in Coin, Iowa and attended school there graduating from Coin High School in 1941. After high school she attended A.I.B. in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from A.I.B she worked for a brief time in Omaha. On March 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to James Franklin Holmes, to this union four children were born Linda Kay, Carolyn Jean, James Edwin and John Paul. Her children were always a source of pride for her. After Frank was discharged from the Navy in 1945 they made their home in Sidney, Iowa. In 1968 after the children were raised, Catherine worked for Health and Human Services.

Catherine was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, PEO, Monday Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Band Parents (Sidney Music Alliance). Catherine loved being a wife , mother , grandmother and great grandmother and took joy in all her family .

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Frank in 1988; her parents, Edwin and Lettie Baugh and a daughter-in-law Pam Holmes.

Survivors include her children, Linda Reilly and husband Dennis of Sidney, Iowa, Carolyn Larson and husband Tate of rural Essex, Iowa, Jim Holmes and wife Joan of Sidney, Iowa and John Holmes of Omaha, Nebraska. Also she is survived by her ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held a the United Faith Church in Sidney, Iowa on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation at the church on Monday one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, Iowa at 1:30 Monday. Memorials to the United Faith Church or the Sidney Rescue.
