February 29, 1928 - June 30, 2017

Barbara (Bezy) Evans Farris, 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Community North Hospital on Friday, June 30, 2017 with all six of her children by her side. Bezy was born February 29, 1928 in Indianapolis to William Robinson and Lois (Hathaway) Evans. She graduated from Shortridge High School and DePauw University, with a major in Botany and Microbiology. While at DePauw University, Bezy was President of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

Bezy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Martha Lois and two brothers, John Hathaway and Ensign William Robinson III, a member of the famed Torpedo Squadron 8. She was preceded also by husbands, Dan W. Guinnup and Phillip H. Farris.

Bezy was a 25-year Girl Scout Leader, active in the Auxiliary to the Children's Bureau and a former PTA board member of Allisonville, John Strange, and Eastwood schools. She was active in Alpha Chi Omega sorority and had been a financial assistant at the National Headquarters. For several years, she also led nature tours at Eagle Creek State Park. She had been a Sunday School Teacher and Dispensing Treasurer for many years at First Friends Church. Bezy had also been an active member of Alpha Tau Latreian, having served as Recording Secretary and President. She was a former member of the Contemporary Club, Board of Directors of the Propylaeum, Alpha Tau Latreian, Alpha Chi Omega, and Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Bezy is survived by six loving children and their spouses, Karen (Paul) Chevalier-Smith, Tim (Laura) Chevalier, Jeff (Ann) Chevalier, Vicki (Joe) Borrelli, Rob (Sharon) Chevalier, and Holly (Mike) Chevalier-Spears, and a brother, Thomas Fredric Evans. She will be greatly missed also by 13 grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, six step-children, and eight step-grandchildren.

Calling will be at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 8th from 12:00-2:00 pm with services following at the church at 2:00. There will be a private family interment at Crown Hill Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Community North Cancer Center, Children's Bureau Auxiliary, or Riley Hospital for Children. The family would like to thank Community North Hospital and the staff and nurses for their care given to Bezy Farris.
