Veronda Janette Pickle
July 12, 1941 - January 14, 2017

Veronda Janette Pickle, 75 1/2, of New London, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her home. She was born July 12, 1941, north of Danville to Cleo Sr. and Letha Fay McNamee Carter. On April 23, 1960, she married James Pickle; they later divorced.
She was a 1959 graduate of New London High School. She worked for New London Telephone Company, GeoSonics, Pleasant Outlook in Mt. Pleasant and ran an in-home daycare for many years. She was of the Christian faith. Veronda was a member of Weight Watchers and former member of Ridgeblasters Snowmobile Club. She loved time spent with family, taking care of grandkids and granddogs, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed mushrooming, running a Nascar pool, snowmobiling, flowers and gardening; canning, cooking, baking and taking meals to others. She was always the life of the party and loved fake moustaches. She had a great interest in meteorology and watching the weather. She enjoyed being known as the "egg lady" on Fridays in New London.
Survivors include one son, Kevin (Erica) Pickle, New London; two daughters, Tracy (Roger) Cooper of Danville and Brenda (Randy) Lanferman of Mt. Pleasant; her companion of 27 years, Ron Sadler, New London; four grandchildren; Logan Long, Kate Nahorny, John Rose and Boden Pickle; one brother, Bill Carter, New London; sister-in-law, Betty Carter, New London, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cleo Jr., and sister-in-law, Dianne Carter. Graveside inurnment will be held at 5:30 PM, July 12, 2017, which would have been her 76th birthday at Trinity Cemetery, Mt. Union. Elliott Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
