MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mike Siering passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home in rural New Boston, Illinois. after a courageous 4 month battle with cancer.
Celebration of Life: Visitation will be held from 2 until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Funeral services at 7 p.m. at funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercer County Band, or to charity of personal choosing.
Mike was born on March 29, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Ed and Margaret (Peggy) Moog Siering. He married Tammy Terrill on January 16, 1999, in Muscatine.
Mike graduated from Westminster College in 1978 with a degree in Economics. He passed the Iowa Bar and became a practicing lawyer after graduating University of Iowa Law School in 1981 with the Juris Doctor degree. The law firm of Metcalf, Conlon and Siering was established when Mike joined the firm. Mike took pride in the fact that he never missed a day of work in his life. He cared about his law clients.
Mike loved his children with a passion. He was an athletic coach for their teams but most importantly he was a life coach for them. He was an avid supporter of his children's interests. He was a great believer in the innate value of a quality education.
Mike's other interests were golf, music, fishing and pheasant hunting with his dad and his brother. But, above all, caring for his family was his primary interest. He also was known as an eager debater.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Tammy Siering of New Boston, his children, Theo Michael Siering, Hogan Andrew Siering, Lila Genevieve Siering, and Callie Elaine Siering, all at home; his parents, Ed & Peggy Siering of Muscatine; one brother, Tom Siering and wife, Jill, of Naples, Florida; and two nephews, Patrick Siering and wife, Molly and Dan Siering and wife, Taylor, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by and infant brother, Christopher.
