David T Gruman
December 31, 1934 - May 23, 2017

David T. Gruman, 82 of Punta Gorda, FL formerly of Freehold, New Jersey passed away on May 23, 2017. David was born in Newark, New Jersey on December 31, 1934, to the late DeWitt Gruman and Myrtle Gruman.

David was a veteran of the Vietnam War and after serving with the Air Force, he went with American Airlines. David retired from American Airlines in 1994 after flying 28 years for them. Due to his love of flying, after retiring, he bought a twin engine plane and continued to enjoy flying until Hurricane Charley destroyed the plane in 2004. After his flying career was over he got interested in Parliamentary Procedure. He served his local chapter of the National Association of Parliamentarians as Treasurer, Instructor and was elected President from 2011-2013.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Gruman; his sister, Betty Prindiville of Loudon, Tennessee; children, Cathy Green, of Elizabeth, Colorado, Susan Spudis and her husband Robert Spudis, of Marathon, New York, James Gruman and his wife Christina of McHenry, Illinois and Matthew Petosa of Huntington Beach, Califronia; cherished grandchildren Mickala Lynch, Zachary Gruman, Alexander Gruman, Michelle Martin, Michael Spudis, Julie Petosa, Meghan Keeley and great grandchildren Benjamin Mock; Aiden Lynch and Veronica Spudis. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Allan Green and step-son Eric Petosa.

A visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33952 with a Memorial Service to follow immediately after the visitation at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Make a Wish Foundation would be appreciated.
