Karen Mabelle (Linn) Parks, age 78 of Colfax, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Taylor House - Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will take place at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Karen Parks Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of Harry A. and Buena M. (Wolfe) Linn, Karen was born on April 4, 1939, in Graettinger, Iowa. Karen graduated from Colfax High School in 1957. On June 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to Alfred "Joe" Parks. Karen worked at the Vernon Company in Newton and then at the Federal Building in Des Moines until 1987. Following that, she babysat for her grandchildren. Karen enjoyed shopping and garage saleing with her best friend, Dolores (McNeer) Linn and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her two children, Forrest (Tina) Parks, and Denise (John Ambrose) Bissell; two step children, Marty (Linda) Parks, Laurie (Larry) Lukehart; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Harry B. "Chub" (Delores) Linn. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Joe, son-in-law, Kevin Bissell and a granddaughter, Martina Parks.
