In loving memory of

Betty Ann Schiffli
June 25, 1929 - July 22, 2017

Betty Schiffli, age 88, died peacefully on July 22, 2017. She was born in Washington, Indiana (Daviess County), the daughter of Albert and Barbara Ice. Betty attended Washington High School and Purdue University before marrying Albert J. "Jack" Schiffli in 1949. In their early years of marriage, Betty and Jack lived in Griffin and Newnan, Georgia. Jack was a high school math teacher and basketball/football coach while Betty was the ever supportive "assistant coach".

At the time of their move to Indianapolis in 1960, Betty was a stay-at-home mom and the biggest cheerleader of Jack's athletic teams at North Central High School. She was a devoted wife and loving mother - selfless with a heart of gold. Her greatest joy was her love of family. Her passions of cooking and participating in the kids' activities kept her active. As the children grew into their high school and college years, Betty enjoyed various work experiences that included L.S. Ayres fine jewelry, Abigail's of Broad Ripple and IU Hospital-human relations. As a master bridge player, she continued to play with her dear friends until earlier this year. In her later years, she often received compliments for her youthful looks, fulfilling the vote of her 25th class reunion as the "Most Look-Alike of Her High School Days" Award. For her 57 years in Indianapolis, Betty was a dedicated member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, their four children and spouses, Carolyn Copenhaver (Dave), Gary Schiffli (Beth), Cheryl Karlos (Miltiades), and Gregory Schiffli (Kristen), eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Predeceasing Betty were her parents and her brother, Bob Ice, of Carmel.

The family extends its deep gratitude to the medical and support staff of The Barrington of Carmel and Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care and assistance.

Visitation will be held at Leppert Mortuary (Nora), 740 E. 86th St., Indianapolis, on Friday, July 28, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, July 29, 11:00 a.m., in the Leppert Mortuary Chapel (Nora).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kindred Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 9785 Crosspoint Blvd., Suite 104, Indianapolis, IN 46256.

"Coach Schiffli I just read in the Newnan Times Herald paper where your wife passed away. Just wanted to send my condolence to you and your family. You taught me health in the 9th grade at Newnan High School and was one of my favorite teachers. May God give you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Wish you lived closer by so we could visit with you. I graduated in 1959 and some of our classmates meet every other month at Cracker Barrel here in Newnan and we speak of many of our teachers from time to time. You and your family are in my prayers and I will continue to pray for you in the days and months ahead as you go thru this difficult time. In Christ Love, Syble Holdbrooks Storey"
