Lavon Melvin Ainsworth, 83, of Stringer, MS died Thursday, March 09, 2017 at Mississippi Care Center of Raleigh in Raleigh, MS. He was born Friday, September 15, 1933 in Smith County, MS. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Good Hope Baptist Church in Stringer, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Good Hope Baptist Church in Stringer, MS. Burial will follow in Union Line Cemetery in Soso, MS. Bro. Terry Lee will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements. (601)649-3342 Mr. Lavon was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Collecting cars was a favorite hobby of his. In his spare time he enjoyed watching old westerns and spending time with his dogs. He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Nathanial Ainsworth; mother, Audrey Ainsworth; brother, Larry Ainsworth and brother-in-law, B.J. Williams. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lavern Ainsworth, Stringer, MS; daughters, Peggy Scott (Billy), Raleigh, MS, Tammy Miller (Daniel), Stringer, MS; sons, Eddie Ainsworth, Soso, MS and Brian Ainsworth (Kim), Summerland, MS; grandchildren, Christy Sims (Thomas), Stringer, MS; Jessica Williams (Jeremy), Stringer, MS; April Allen (James), Hattiesburg, MS; Wendy Parker, Summerland, MS and Brooks Thomas (Terry), Meridian, MS; great grandchildren, Olivia Sims, Stringer, MS; McKinna Parker, Summerland, MS; Kennedy Gardner, Summerland, MS; Kennedy Williams, Stringer, MS and Connor Thomas, Meridian, MS; brothers, Virgil T. Ainsworth (Annette), Soso, MS and R.J. Ainsworth (Cynthia), Stringer, MS; sister, Bonnie Williams, Stringer, MS; sister-in-law, Clarise Ainsworth, Raleigh, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.
