January 22, 1998 - August 5, 2017

Ty Eugene Carlson, age 19 of Colfax passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Colfax Mingo High School. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the high school. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ty Carlson Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The son of Todd and Kari (McClellan) Carlson, Ty was born on January 22, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He graduated from Colfax Mingo High School in 2016 and was getting ready to start his second year at Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge. Ty was a member of the I.R.C.A., the Iowa Central Rodeo Team, FFA, Spanish Club and Goodman's Youth Group. During high school he wrestled, played football and was active in rodeos. He loved to ride bulls, and anything to do with horses.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Todd and Kari; his sister, Taylor and brother Tate. Also surviving are his grandfathers, Steve Carlson and Ted McClellan; three aunts, Gina McClellan, Jerri Rush and Tami (Rich) Blecha; two uncles, Travis (Kiley) Hamell and Ron (Mary Kay) Hamell; cousins Hayden, Thomas, Charlie, Wendy (Chad), Dustin, Jessica and Morgan as well as a special friend, Brooke Nicholson. Preceding Ty in death were his two grandmothers, Mary Ann McClellan and Linda Gray.
