Delores "Chrissy" Simons
December 30, 1924 - August 7, 2017

Delores "Chrissy" Simons, 92, of Hampton, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.

Delores was born on December 30, 1924, in Franklin County, Iowa, to John and Dagny (Hansen) Christensen. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa. She attended Country School and graduated from Hampton High School in 1943. After high school, Delores attended AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. She then worked at First National Bank in Hampton and also worked at CAL Community Schools in Latimer as a preschool aid. Delores was united in marriage to Arvon Dale Simons on June 17, 1945, and helped him farm property south of Coulter until 1985. She lived on the acreage until 1988 when she moved to Hampton. Delores was an active member in the St. John's Lutheran Church, and enjoyed being a part of their quilting group. She enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends and collecting cookie jars.

Delores is survived by her son Bob (Cherie) Simons of Polk City, son Steve (Colleen) Simons of Hampton, daughter Cindy (Paul Jay) Donatelli of Hampton, daughter Guyla (Howard) Pohlman of Hampton, 8 grandchildren Ryon (Shannon Beavers) Simons, Beckie Barker, Chelle (Michael) Driscoll, Nicci (Kent) Lundquist, Kelly (Michael) Gerrell, Tyler Pohlman, Kelsey (Ryan) Card, Brandon (Maicie) Pohlman, 2 step grandchildren Nick (Kaci) Pohlman, Matt Pohlman, 19 ½ great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and sister Marlys Hansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arvon D. Simons, and grandson Jonathan Simons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
