In loving memory of

LaDonna L. Allen
June 14, 1930 - August 8, 2017

LaDonna (Webb) Allen was born in Colo, Iowa on June 14, 1930 to Wilbur and Avalee Webb. She met the love of her life, Bill Allen, when they were very young. They were married on January 19, 1951.
She graduated from Nevada High School, attended Simpson College, and was a lifelong learner, reading every newspaper, magazine and book she came across. At least as evidenced by the pile of reading beside her favorite chair!
Family, friends, and community were her life and love. She had a career serving others, ultimately leading to a successful career in the real estate industry and working closely with many Ames and area realtors. LaDonna spent much of her life helping find just the right home for many, many clients, who also became friends of hers. She loved real estate and construction and helping people.
LaDonna served on the Mary Greeley Hospital Board of Trustees, the Mary Greeley Hospital Auxiliary, the Ames Board of Realtors, and the board of Alpha Chi Omega. She was a long time member of the Ames Golf and Country Club, PEO Chapter HN, Questors.
She loved traveling with Bill, attending Iowa State athletic events, and she never said "No" to an invitation to a social event...all shared with family and friends.
Among all those great life accomplishments, her greatest joy came from her time spent with family including son Mark, daughter Kris Scheppler (John), grandchildren Pat Allen (Krista), Cari Drummond (David), Kelley Scheppler (Ryan), Morgan Johnston (Drew), Jack Scheppler, and great-grandchildren Raeanne, Avery, Wyatt, Miles, and Auden. She is also survived by Cheryl Junkmann (Don) and Richard Webb (Phyllis).
Friends and family wishing to make memorial gifts are invited to contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, the Mary Greeley Hospital Foundation, and/or Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Services will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1416 20th Street Ames, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017. Visitation will be held at Grandon Funeral & Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way Ames, with the family present on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. All are welcome to come and visit.
Please feel free to wear bright colors so LaDonna can enjoy the celebration from heaven!

"Do you suppose Bobby was waiting along with Bill, to greet LaDonna with her favorite cocktail? I wouldn't be surprised. I so enjoyed my visits with LaDonna. She was always interested in how Payton was doing which warmed my heart each time. She was a live wire and always ready to have a great social hour. I know you are really going to miss her, as will many others. We will be in touch shortly. Love to all of you."

"LaDonna's family - I am so sorry to read of LaDonna's passing. Avalee and my mother, Mildred Stevenson, were very good friends in Colo. LaDonna and I were born the same year so as young girls played and were together a lot. Many good memories. May you find comfort in God's words and love. Barbara Stevenson Ellson"

"Kris, Mark and family - I opened Facebook tonight and saw Kris's post about LaDonna's death. My heart skipped a beat. The first thing I did was call Mom. She had heard from Amy. Your family, your parents and ours seem always to have been connected. Please know I am thinking of you at what I know is a tremendously difficult time. So sorry I am too far away to attend services for LaDonna. However, I am most definitely with you in spirit. "
