John W. Dailey
February 5, 1937 - August 8, 2017

John W. Dailey, 80, of Dakota City, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral Services will be 11:00am Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Sioux City, NE.

John was born February 5, 1937 in Richmond, Kentucky, the son of Carl and Mary Alice (Prewitt) Dailey. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955, serving in France, Goose Bay Labrador, and throughout the United States. John married Norma Phelps July 26, 1956 in Danville, Kentucky. Together they made their home in Sioux City. John was honorably discharged in 1967. Over the years, John worked for IBP, retiring in 1999 after 32 years of service.

John was past president of UFCW Local 222 Sioux City. He was a member of Dakota City American Legion and St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. John enjoyed raising hogs, fishing, camping and gardening. The greatest gift he gave his family was the love he had for his wife, Norma.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Dailey of Dakota City, NE; 3 children, Mike (Jean) Dailey of Sioux City, IA, Johnette (Douglas) Moninger of Dakota City, NE and Tia (Doug) Baumann of Sioux City, IA; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Ann Lamachy of Florida; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Taylin Dailey; 1 brother; and 4 sisters.
