William "Bill" Jens, 88, passed away on August 9, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood with Pastor Susan Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

William (Bill) Jens, born August 21, 1928, was one of three children born to William Peter and Elsie Dorothea (Bokemper) Jens. Bill spent his life on a farm five miles northeast of Glenwood. During his youth he attended Mineola Lutheran Church where he was confirmed in 1942 with 30 other confirmands.
Bill married Florilla June Hunt on November 21, 1948. They were blessed with five children, Michael William, twins, Jeffery Lynn and Patrick Lee (passed in infancy), Kathryn Diane, and Ronald Bruce.
When they retired from actively farming, they spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona for 22 years. They met many good friends during their winter stays in Arizona.
In 2011, after 62 years living on the farm, they moved into Timberlane Estates in Glenwood.
Bill loved when the family gathered for special occasions. Bill enjoyed fishing at his farm pond. There were many memories made at the pond, and enough fish stories to last a lifetime.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Florilla (2012); sons, Jeffery and Patrick, parents; William P. and Elsie D. (Bokemper) Jens; sister and brother-in-law, Rudy and Darlene (Jens) Bichel; and brother Leonard Jens.
Bill is survived by his son Mike and daughter-in-law Judie Jens of Omaha, NE; daughter Diane and son-in-law Dale Malcom of Glenwood, IA; son Ron and daughter-in-law Lori Jens of Otley, IA; grandchildren: Jeff, Dan, Kathy, Michaelene, Amanda, Dennis, Matt, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Kaitlin, Jeffery, Ethan F., Ashley, Kirkland, Carson, Cody, Ethan M., Caden, Camryn, Blake, Colton, Madelyn, Nolan, Carter, Graysen, Alex, Avery, Molly, Brayden, and Asher; great-great granddaughter: Marren; step grandchildren: Cory Bolander, Kellie (Bolander) Hatcher, Trisha and Cam Bolander, and Devin Schwanet; sisters-in-law, Genevieve and Helen Hunt, nieces and nephews.
