John W. "Jack" Walsh
January 29, 1948 - August 10, 2017

Portage/Sun Prairie - John 'Jack" Walsh, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2017.

Jack is remembered in love by his sons, Matt (Jen) and Aaron (Sarah) Walsh; his grandsons, Lawson and Egan Walsh; his 12 brothers and sisters, Tom (Bonnie) Walsh, Mary (Gil) Cataldo, Marilyn (John) Gallivan, Kathy Scott, Jim (Julia) Walsh, Pat Walsh, Bob (Maureen) Walsh, PJ (Karen) Walsh, Ginger (Tom) Stasaitis, Noreen (JC) Copeland, Dan Walsh, and Mike Walsh; his many nieces and nephews; his former wife, Michele Walsh; and his three best friends, considered family; Terry (Irene) Gainer, Ron (Pat) Fisher, and Jim Voris. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rebecca, his brother Bill (Loretta) Walsh, and his brother-in-law, Tom Scott.

Jack was born in a suburb of Chicago, IL. in 1948 to the late Kathleen (Robert) Walsh and Jack Egan. Jack, a Catholic League State Champion wrestler, graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1966. Jack loved to follow the Caravan every football and wrestling season. Jack attended the University of Minnesota on a football scholarship and graduated in 1971 with a B.S. in Math and Statistics. Jack was involved in many professional organizations. However, Jack was best known and affiliated with Cobb, Strecker, Dunphy, and Zimmermann, where he was semi-retired Senior Vice President and worked for 37 years as an independent insurance agent. Jack started and built the Madison Branch of CSD&Z by surrounding himself with co-workers that he appreciated and loved.

Jack was a devoted father, grandfather, and honest and ethical businessmen who left a legacy upon us all. If you knew Jack, you knew his legacy. Please come share in celebrating that legacy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Following the burial, please join us at Buck and Honey's Restaurant, 804 Liberty Blvd, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 to celebrate Jack's life.

"Jack was a year behind me at Mt Carmel. On the Frosh/Soph team, we both played interior line. It was the Lombardi era. The way to get noticed was to fight at practice. I hated fighting with Jack.
