Luke Engelhardt, 40, passed away of natural causes at his home on July 17, 2017.
Visitation will be Sunday August 27, from 3-5 pm at Grandview Park Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Monday August 28, at Grandview Park Funeral home with burial, and Military honors at 2:00 pm Monday in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Luke Marcus Engelhardt, son of Pastor Marcus and Joanne Engelhardt, was born at Humboldt, Iowa on July 19, 1976. Luke began his education at Twin Rivers, Livermore. First grade to his sophomore year, Luke attended Clarinda schools. He moved to Des Moines and graduated from North High School. He participated in track and cross country at Clarinda and North High. He graduated from DMACC and continued his education at UNI.
While in high school, Luke enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard, with the 1034th, later transferring to the 1168th. 2003-2004, Luke served in Operation Iraqi Freedom under the command of Lt. Col. Joni D. Ernst.
In addition to his parents, Chaplain Marcus and Joanne Engelhardt, Luke is survived by 2 brothers, Matthew (Alisa) Engelhardt, Waterloo, and JohnDaniel Engelhardt, Davenport, as well as his grandmothers, Ruth Engelhardt, Clinton, and Beverly Kennedy, Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, G. D. A. Engelhardt and Lawrence Kennedy.
