James "Jim" E. Evans
April 18, 1951 - August 24, 2017

James "Jim" E. Evans, 66, of Hampton, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017, at his home in Hampton, Iowa, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice -Waterloo.

He was born April 18, 1951, to Jack Melbourne and Izola Mae (Smith) Evans, in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1969, Jim graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Connie Lynn Miller on December 21, 1985, in Hampton, Iowa. Jim was employed at Maytag for over 20 years. He was affiliated with the Methodist church. Jim was a huge race fan and enjoyed going to races with his good friend Steve Beebe. He enjoyed watching the Cyclones football team, fishing and spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie Lynn Miller Evans of Hampton, son Jason (Angela) Evans of Cedar Rapids, son Jeremy Evans of Reinbeck, daughter Nicole (Joel Crandall) Evans of Windsor Heights, son Cody Evans of Hampton, sister Gloria Hertz of Madeira Beach, Florida, sister Sue Hoffmeister of Mt. Pleasant, three grandchildren Aiden Evans, Nolan Evans, Piper Evans, and one on the way, sister-in-law Jan Evans of Urbandale, mother-in-law Shirley Whipple of Hampton, sisters-in-law Ranay (Mike) Hunst of Hansell, Georgia (Dale) Allen of Aredale, and brother-in-law Russell "Rusty" (Tammy) Miller of Rockwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, brother Jack Jr., brother-in-law Bill Hoffmeister, father-in-law Russell Miller, step father-in-law Virgil Whipple and nephew Nick Miller.
