Dorothy Mapes

Dorothy Dellana Mapes , 67, of Burlington, died at 12:06 am Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 12, 1949, in Fort Campbell, KY, she was the daughter of Lloyd Thomas and Dorothy Lee Truitt Mapes.
Dorothy was a parking enforcement officer for the City of Burlington for 27 years retiring in 2011.
She was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School
She was a member of Community of Christ. She played softball for over 25 years, and liked fishing, being outdoors, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Mapes of Medina, TN, James Mapes of Murphysboro, TN; one aunt, Marion Torrenga of Homewood, IL; and her very close friend, Alice Mae Foster of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy has donated her body to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine for medical research.
A memorial has been established for the Community of Christ Church.
