"I'm so very sorry for your loss. You all have my deepest heartfelt sympathy. I remember seeing and talking to Matt a lot at Bill Krons gas station. He had a real love for cooking. Was always in a great mood I don't believe I ever seen him unhappy about anything. If my memory serves me I was thinking he won a cooking contest at the state fair one year for a dish with lamb or sheep in it. He sure will be missed by many who knew him. William Sedlacek"

"I have vivid memories of Matt as a student at Shimek Elementary School in Iowa City. I enjoyed having him as a student in the 5th/6th, Gamma unit. It was fun to see him years later, when he worked at Hy Vee, with the same grin I had seen many times! He seemed to enjoy the fact that I graduated with his parents from City High...a common bond. I send sympathy and prayers for all of Matt's family. Colleen Hogan"

"I would like to offer my deepest condolences to your family. In times like these the Bible have proven to be of great comfort. The Bible book of John chapter 5 verses 29 and 28 holds out the hope of a resurrection for our loved ones who have past; and Joshua chapter 21 verse 45 lets us know that God fulfills his promises. I hope that these Bible verses will bring your family some comfort."
