Obituary of Joetta Vaughan

Joetta Vaughan, longtime resident of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2017.

As a teenager, Jo was athletic and played a mean game of tennis.  Later in life, she cheered on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.  She was an excellent seamstress and in her later years, she became a self-taught artist.

In 1946, Jo married Edward Vaughan and became a homemaker in the best sense of the word. Their marriage lasted 69 years.  She raised two daughters, to whom she passed on her Christian values, strength, and the ability to meet life's challenges head on.  A member of Connell Baptist Church since 1953, Jo was a devout Christian and had a circle of church friends for many years.  She survived many health issues, including breast cancer, probably because she was so stubborn.  She was independent until the end of her life.

Jo is survived by her daughters, Sharon Schultz and Suzanne Ansley; son-in-law Frank Ansley; grandchildren Alicia Schultz and Adam Schultz; and great grandson Elijah Schultz.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133.
