"It was a pleasure getting to know Larry. My thoughts and condolences to the family. Kari Esser"
"I was an RN new to my role as a Clinic RN. I knew that when Larry was in clinic I could depend on him for wise medical advise given in a kind and thoughtful manner. Clinic was a calm place when he was there as he focused on the patient and teaching, resident physicians, staff, and patients. The guidance that he offered was well thought out and grounded. My absolute favorite thing about Larry was his sense of humor and I knew that when I saw that twinkle in his eye that he was finding humor out of a situation and we would be laughing soon."
"I am so sorry to hear of Larry's death. Dr. Fleming was a superb and practical minded physician and a wonderful mentor with a warm heart and personality. When I first joined the department many years ago I always sought out Dr. Fleming for his sound advice. My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, Jonne and their beloved children and grandchildren. "
"Dr. Fleming was my primary physician for many years until he cut back his active practice. He was a fine doctor, good natured, practical and down to earth. He always made time for conversation and I trusted his judgement. I am sorry to hear of his passing. "
"Dr. Fleming was our family physician for 30 some years. He was a great Doctor and was always there for us when we were in need of his care. He had patience, a warm heart, and a Great smile that made him stand out from other doctors. When we had a cancer issue he made sure we were taken in by the top cancer doctor in the Carbone Cancer Center. We will never forget all he did for us as a family. The world has lost a great man!!! "Larry was a highly values colleague on the faculty of medicine at the Univ. of Wisconsin Medical School. He was a superb and outstanding teacher and practitional of internal medicine who was an outstanding role model for students and residents. He also played a crucial role in implementing U-care, our faculty insurance program. We are also indebted mostly to him as our personal internist for nearly 25 years. We loved him for his warm personality and special medical care he gave to us and are very sorry to learn of his death and wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Jonne and his family. He will be missed. Don and Mary Harkness"
"I had the opportunity to both work with Dr. Fleming and to have him as my primary care physician. Larry was all those things you want in your physician - caring, empathetic, open, and honest. Most of all he was an astute listener. Almost forgot. He had a great sense of humor as well. He will be missed."
"John and I are so sorry to hear of Larry's death. He was a wonderful Armour Lake neighbor. He always seemed to enjoy the natural beauty and peace that Armour offered. Joanne and family - may your memories sustain you during this difficult time. With sympathy, John and Sharon Bloodgood"
"I was one of the many blessed to have Larry as their physician, yet he always made me feel like I was his only patient. He took care of me. He tended to what ailed my body, but also my spirit. Some 30 years ago, he wrote out a "prescription for my life" on a small piece of paper. I still carry it with me. It was advice on how to live one's life, my life, and it has helped me through the ups and downs. A man of wisdom and kindness. A man of great grace. We were all blessed."
"I was very saddened to read of Larry's death. Larry and I were colleagues at U-Care for several years (1983-88) and he was my personal physician from that time until he retired. Larry was a wonderful person---warm, caring, smart, and enjoyable to be around. As a physician, he was very patient-centric, always putting the welfare of his patients before anything else. I always valued his kindness, wisdom, and friendship. He will be missed. "
"We have known Larry and his family since we moved to Middleton. Clearly he was a compassionate and accomplished physician but he also was a husband, father and grandfather to a wonderful family. That is truly a life well lived."

"I have so many fond memories of working with Larry and am so grateful to have had him as a mentor and colleague at UW. I worked alongside him as a resident and faculty at UPM and West Clinic. Superb internist. Always there to talk through cases, give advice, show me something new. I shared an office with him and his desk was always full of goodies from adoring patients. Dearly loved and dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers and with you. Tosha Wetterneck"
