Hazel M. Sturtz, 95, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Steeg, Paul Steeg, Greg Steeg, Joe Steeg, John Sechrest, and Brian Turner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dawn Shano, Dana Lagarde, Kelly Ng, Shannon Lutton, Michelle DeLong, Aaron Sturtz, and Michael Sturtz. Hazel Marie Rhoades was born on August 8, 1922, in Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Belle (Fugate) Rhoades. She married William Sturtz on August 8, 1944 in Clinton; he died June 2, 1999.
Hazel was a homemaker and also helped during World War II on a maintenance crew for bomber planes in Rapid City, South Dakota. She loved to read and bake, but most importantly loved her family dearly.
Hazel is survived by her children; John "Jack" (Anna) Sturtz of Circleville, Ohio, James (Marie) Sturtz of Clinton, Ada Steeg of Clinton, Patty (Jim) Turner of Clinton, and Rita (Bill) Sechrest of Clinton; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, three grandchildren: David, Lisa, and Janelle, two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Hannah, and a special friend Denise Stone.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Susan Komen Foundation.
