March 21, 1943 - September 6, 2017

Ethelind "Lindy" Whitehorn Voss, 74, of North Sioux City, SD, formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away after a long battle with COPD on September 6, 2017.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.

Lindy was born to Edna and Floyd Whitehorn in South Hampton, NY on March 21, 1943. Raised in Oregon, Lindy met her husband of 55 years, Dale "Spook" Voss while attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. The early years of her marriage were spent in South Sioux City. After several moves, businesses, and jobs, Lindy and Spook relocated back to South Sioux City where they ran the South Sioux City Trailer Wash Out from 1994 until retirement in 2011.

Some of her greatest joys included traveling back to Oregon to eat smoked salmon and seeing the ocean, playing bridge, and trying a new recipe from one of her many cookbooks.

She is survived by her husband; her son, J.C. and his wife, Terri and their children, Corey and Gage; her son, David and his children, Eric and Deanna; and her daughter, Debbie, her husband Scott VanAuker and their children, Jack and Aaron; her sister Mary Jane Moore; her brother, Randy Whitehorn; and her brother-in-law, Stanley Voss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Susan Moore and Judy Aaron.

Her family requests any memorial donations be made to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, IA 51104. Their supportive and compassionate staff, volunteers, and services made Lindy's final months a time of spiritual growth, grace and peace.

"Dale and Family: I am saddened to hear of Lindy's passing. I worked with her at the shelter years ago and made a couple of road trips with her. Fond memories bring a smile to me. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. "
