Wayne McCollum
September 27, 1923 - September 6, 2017

Mr. Wayne McCollum, 93, of West Burlington died at 6:22 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at his home.
Born September 27, 1923 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of Bruce L. and Snodie Mae (Yowell) McCollum. On September 15, 1945 he married Connie E. Cooper in Burlington.
Mr. McCollum was a graduate of Kirksville High School and learned his tool and die trade at Southeastern Community College. He worked as a tool and die maker for Campbell Chain and through Allied Plant Maintenance at Breck in Fort Madison.
Mr. McCollum was of the Christian faith and grew up in the First Christian Church of Kirksville. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling. He was proud of his golf ball collection. He loved his family more than anything else in the world.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Connie McCollum of West Burlington; one son, Jerry (Barb) McCollum of Burlington; four grandchildren, Bobbie (Tom) Cobb of Houston, Texas, Chad (Dilphia) McCollum of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kimberly (Marty) Taeger, and Kelli Carlson both of Burlington; eight great grandchildren, Joshua Haworth, Brittany Haworth Jordan and Tyler and Brittany Cobb all of Houston, Ashley McCollum of Colorado Springs and Dilynn and Madison Taeger and Camden Carlson all of Burlington; and one great-great grandchild, Avery Burke of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Geneva Schofield.
The memorial graveside funeral service and inurnment for Mr. McCollum will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 8th, in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. David Yonker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
