Eleanor Elizabeth Clark
October 12, 1920 - September 6, 2017

Eleanor E. Clark, 96, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 6, 2017, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A memorial service celebrating Eleanor's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 15, 2017, a the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. There is no visitation. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, St. Donatus, Iowa.

Eleanor Elizabeth Schoop was born on October 12, 1920, in Bellevue, Iowa, to John Henry and Mamie Dorothy (Schnoor) Schoop. She attended Bellevue High School. She married Leonard M. Clark on September 28, 1941 in St. Donatus, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Judith, Leonard Jr. and James.

Eleanor was a housewife and had farmed with her husband in the LaMotte area for many years, moving to Maquoketa in 1974.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa and the Iowa Road Runners Camping Club. She enjoyed traveling, always looking her best, and playing cards, especially Euchre and Bridge.

Those left to honor Eleanor's memory include her children, Judy Keeney of Dubuque, IA, Leonard (Patricia) Clark Jr. of Clear Lake, IA, and James (Patricia) Clark of Medford, WI; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma (Glen) Bormann of LaMotte, IA, Pauline Schoop of Lost Nation, IA, Loreen Schoop of LaMotte, IA, and Bernice Schoop of DeWitt, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard on February 6, 2016, brothers Emil, John and Robert Schoop, half-brothers Fred Schoop, Arthur Schoop, Harold Miller and Blaine Miller, a half-sister Dorothy McCrosky, and a step-grandchild.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Eleanor E. Clark memorial fund has been established.
