Agnes Shipley, 75, of Ponca, NE, formerly of Omaha, NE passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.
Agnes was born on April 3, 1942 in Hamilton, Scotland, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Gardner) Tibbitt. She moved to the United States when she was 22 years old and became a U.S. citizen in 1985. She settled in the New York/New Jersey area where she worked as a mother's helper and a switchboard operator. Agnes married Joseph Foy on December 7, 1971 and they were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie. The family moved to Omaha, NE in 1975 and she worked as a cashier and housekeeper. Agnes and Stephanie moved to Scotland for a year before moving back to Omaha. She was then married Richard Shipley and Richard passed away in 1997. Agnes moved to Central City, NE to be near her daughter, before moving to Ponca, NE in January, 2015.
She loved gardening, animals, babies and clothing. Her faith was very important to her.
Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Grimes of LaVista, NE; grandson, Adom (Elizabeth) Carbonell of Bellevue, NE; granddaughters, Ashley and Jennifer Carbonell of LaVista, NE; great-grandson, Dominic Carbonell; siblings, Margaret (Donald) Lamont and Alexander Tibbett of Scotland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Tibbitt; her husband, Richard Shipley; grandsons, Agustus Grimes and stillborn baby Grimes; and a brother, Johnny Tibbett.
