ST. CHARLES, MINN: James E. Miller, 83, died peacefully at Golden Living Center - Whitewater, St. Charles, MN on Sunday, September 10, 2017.
James Edward Miller was born on October 5, 1933 on the family farm north of Dover to Edward and Myra (Miller) Miller. James was a stellar athlete. He played football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation, James worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army in 1955 and served for two years. He was an excellent marksman. After his service to his country, he returned to take over and run the family farm. James married Darlene Kay Fix on May 31, 1958 at the Congregational Church in St. Charles, MN. They worked the family farm their whole life, until his health no longer allowed him. James truly loved spending time out on the family farm. He enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables. In his later years, he cherished the pick up rides with his neighbor buddies and sharing a cup of coffee while visiting at the kitchen table. He looked forward to spending time with his family as it continued to grow. In his later years, James loved going out to the family farm and riding around on his golf cart and seeing the livestock. He will be missed by all.
James is survived by his sons, Larry (Deb) Miller, Plainview, MN, Garry (Brenda) Miller, Rossvile, IL; his four grandchildren, Jeff (Melinda) Miller, West Concord, MN, Laura (Adrian Swanson) Miller, Plainview, MN, Brittany (Tyler Robinson) Miller, Richmond, WI, and Aaron Miller, Kellogg, MN; his great grandchildren, Avery, Maya, and Austyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, who died May 21, 2017. James' love of the land and his farm will be remembered by his family forever.
