April 24, 1933 - September 7, 2017

John D. Weston, 84, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Somers, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at United Methodist Church, in Somers. Burial will follow at the Reading Cemetery in Farnhamville, with Military Rites conducted by the Farnhamville American Legion Post 510 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge.

His family includes his wife Donnaloy (Cochran) Kuhn; daughter, Cindy (Dave) Peters of Somers; sons, Don (Shelly) Weston of Callender; Ron (Denise) Weston of Rinard; Daryl Weston of Rockwell City; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and his aunt, Merle Jean Klinger of Fort Dodge; sisters, Mary Carlson of Little Canada, MN; Roberta Ross and Deborah (Tom) Callaway of Fort Dodge; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Wanda; grandson, Corydon Weston; and his sisters, Rosa Jane Weston, Ella "Pat" Weston and Shirley Perry.
John Darwin Weston was born on April 24, 1933, to the late Hiram "Bun" and Dolpha (Kelly) Weston in Pallisade, MN. He moved to Iowa as a young man and attended school in Somers. Following his education, he served in the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge. John then went to work at George A. Hormel & Company (formerly Tobin's Packing Co. Inc.) until 1982. He then began trucking as a team with his late wife, Wanda (Castle) Weston until retiring in 1999. In 2006, he married Donnaloy (Cochran) Kuhn and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. John was a Model A enthusiast. A member of the Humboldt Model A Club, and volunteered with the Monday Music Jammers at Friendship Haven for several years. The most important thing to John was spending time with his family. He enjoyed family vacations, boating, and was a longtime bowling league member.
