Forrest Elwyn Willer, 86, life-long resident of Tipton, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2017, in his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. There will be a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to the start of the funeral service. In honoring Forrest's wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Forrest may be directed to Tipton Senior Center or Tipton United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Forrest was born on the family farm, in rural Tipton on August 21, 1931, the only son of Forrest and Ella (Eiler) Willer. He graduated from Tipton High School before attending ISU for two years. Forrest was united in marriage to Gloria Biere on October 3, 1958, in Bettendorf, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Carol, David and Chris.
Forrest spent his working years doing what he loved, farming the land; he was a proud century farm honoree. Forrest was an avid Hawkeye Fan and enjoyed taking day trips to the Mississippi for " lunch ". He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was also a frequent blood donor. Forrest was also a member of the Cedar County Genealogy Society.
Surviving Forrest is his wife of 58 years, Gloria Ann; daughter, Carol Willer of Des Moines; sons, David (Ronda) Willer of Apple Valley, MN and Chris (Hong) Willer of Ames; grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel McDonald, Kayla Willer and Kim Wilson; great-grandchildren, Dominik and Jerico McDonald, Dimitri, Sydney, and Aidan McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Marquette.
