Darla Jean Shady, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday evening, September 22, 2017, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A public graveside service and burial celebrating Darla's life will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, September 30, 2017, from the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery. There is no public visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Darla Jean Shady was born on August 31, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Jesse Neville and Georgia (Lund) Shady, Jr. She was a 1978 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School.
While in high school, Darla worked in the laundry department at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. She then worked for DAC, Inc. in Maquoketa for several years.
Darla enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, unicorns, horses, and going for coffee with her Mom, Aunt Lil and Dee. She was also especially proud of her daughter April.
Those left to honor Darla's memory include a daughter April Shady-Pierce and her husband Brandon of Mauston, WI; her mother Georgia Shady of Maquoketa, IA; and brothers, Dean (Cindy) Shady of Clinton, IA, Dennis (Maureen) Shady of Pittsville, VA, Danny Shady of Maquoketa, IA, and Darin (Keri) Shady of Maquoketa, IA; and her special friend and beloved cat, Angel. She was preceded in death by her father Jesse N. Shady Jr., infant brother Donald, and an infant sister Debbie.
