Paul A. Williams, 66, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at his home in Maquoketa.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 6 P.M., Thursday, October 5, 2017, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date.

Paul Allen Williams was born on June 11, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa, to Harold Paul and Geraldine Elaine (Farnum) Williams. He was raised by his father and grandparents and attended Davenport West High School. He then served two enlistments in the U.S. Navy as a utility mechanic with the Navy CB's. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he immediately began working for the Rock Island Arsenal as a boiler plant operator and obtained the rank of 1st Class Operating Engineer. He retired in 2012 after 34 years of service.

Paul married LaVonne Martensen Anderson on September 21, 1996 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He had attended the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, creating and growing things, gardening, baking cookies, and in recent years watching the stock market.

Those left to honor Paul's memory include his wife, LaVonne Williams of Maquoketa, IA; 3 sons, Chris Williams of Davenport, IA, Jason (Dana) Williams of Tipton, IA, and Bryan Williams of IA; a step-daughter, Tiffany Anderson of Walcott, IA; a sister, Beverly (Kenny) Holzrichter of Preston, IA; a brother Rodger (Pat) Williams of Rockford, IL; a half-brother Larry (Kathy) Matejcek of MO; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a half-sister Becky Pritchard.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Paul A. Williams memorial fund has been established.
