In loving memory of

Catherine E. Stewart
October 20, 1946 - October 1, 2017

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Catherine Ellen Struss, daughter of Raymond and Herdis (Bolleson) Struss was born October 20, 1946 in Tyler, MN. She was a graduate of Tyler High School. She attended Pipestone Vocational Technical School in Pipestone, MN, (now Minnesota West Community and Technical College) where she received a degree in bookkeeping.

Cathy began working as a bookkeeper in Terrill, IA following her education. She worked for about 10 years at Alf's in Spencer until the plant closed, and she began managing Jay's Place in Graettinger. She worked many years at the Graettinger Country Store where she was a friendly face to everyone she knew and even those she did not. In 2010, she married Martin Stewart, Jr. in Graettinger, IA. Cathy recently retired from the Wild Rose Resort where she was a hotel receptionist for nine years.

Cathy enjoyed playing bingo and 500. She liked to work crossword puzzles and put together jigsaw puzzles. She worked very hard all of her life, and she did so with a smile because she enjoyed her job, and she loved to see people. More than anything, Cathy enjoyed all of the family get-togethers and any time she spent with her family and friends.

On Sunday, October 1, 2017, Cathy passed away unexpectedly at Lakeside Lutheran Home.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: LauraLee Lemcke, and her fiancé, Richard Harding and Tom Lemcke all of Graettinger; grandchildren: Paige Lemcke and Ben Stewart; sister: Karen Kelley (Mike) of Tyler, MN; two brothers: Richard Struss (Diane) of Sioux Falls, SD and Steve Struss (Nancy) of Cambridge, MN; and her sister-in-law, Alice Struss of Fairmont, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Stewart, Jr.; brother, Kai Struss; and her son, Robert Ray Lemcke.

"And there was Oma, with her finger in a glass of lime vodka drink, cooling it off because she held a bottle rocket in her hand. Oh, the laughs and fun times we had. She was always ready for laugh. We bonded the minute we met. Tom, Laurie & family, our deepest sympathy. We hold all the good memories close to our hearts. Lar & "Sbec""
