Mark Bryan Main
July 18, 1953 - October 2, 2017

Mark B. Main, age 64 of Colfax, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Colfax Historical Building. There will be a service beginning at 1:00 p.m. A private internment of cremains will take place at the Colfax Cemetery at a later date. The son of John L. "Jack" and Lila L. (Hoy) Main, Mark was born on July 18, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1971. He then attended Ellsworth Community College, University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management from Upper Iowa University. He was also a trained paralegal. Mark loved his country and proudly served in the United States Army. He worked over the years as a Master Automotive Mechanic, often lending his services at no charge at all times of the day and night, to a stranger in need. Mark was an active member of the Preston Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Lila Main; fiancee, Terri McAtee; grandmother, Clara Hoy; sisters, Robin (Patrick) Conley, Lorretta (Brett) Monteleone, Jill Long (Tim Nutter); aunts and uncles, Connie (Marv) Carlyle, Kitty Hoy, Connie (Marv) Dixon, and Walter (Norma) Main- along with many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and many special friends. Preceding him in death was his father, grandparents Dale (Irene) Main and Elmer Hoy, his uncle, Lyle Hoy, and his aunt, Phyllis Hoy.
