Dennis Ray Hasenbank was born on May 31, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Raymond Chris and Irene Martha (Wenndt) Hasenbank. He grew up in Tipton and was a 1959 graduate of Tipton High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 earning an honorable discharge. He married Patricia Marie "Pat" Gorsch on April 1, 1967 in Clarence, Iowa.

Dennis was dedicated to work but never missed family events. He first farmed for a short time and then became an egg broker working throughout the center of the United States for many years. At the age of 70 he decided to take the insurance examination and then sold insurance for Health Markets for several years.

Dennis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa, the Maquoketa Rotary Club, and the Maquoketa Masonic Helion Lodge #36 AF & AM. He loved his family and the love of his life, Pat. He and Pat danced every week and enjoyed spending time with their dancing friends. He also loved basketball and while in high school was a standout player. Additionally, he liked golf, was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears fan, and was always meticulous about having a clean car. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Patricia "Pat" Hasenbank of Maquoketa, IA; children, Calvin (Heidi) Willson of Bay City, MI, Crystal (Scott) Burmeister of Oxford Junction, IA, Terry Hasenbank of Wyoming, IA, Teresa (Kevin) Bock of Sebring, FL, Dennis (Nicole) Hasenbank Jr. of Hiawatha, IA, and Denise (Wesley) Abbott of Roswell, GA; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother Darvin (Rhonda) Hasenbank of Scottsdale, AZ; and a sister Deanna Rohlf of Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
