Lotars Sture,

73, of Indianapolis, departed this life October 1, 2017. He was born July 5, 1944 in Ventspils, Latvia to the late Alberts and Anna (Cace) Boze. As a child, and into adulthood, he suffered terribly under Soviet occupation. He tirelessly dedicated himself to create a better life for his family. In 1986, he and his family were expelled from his homeland of Latvia, but were welcomed a short time later at Ellis Island, New York as political refugees. Following a two year stay in New York, he then brought his family to Indianapolis. Lotars worked many long days to support his family and shared his strong work ethics with all who knew him. He later earned a degree from Ivy Technical Institute and returned to work as an electrician, as he did when he lived in Latvia. He worked for many years as a union electrical contractor with IBEW #481. Throughout his life, and with a strong will, he was a voice for the freedom for the Latvian community.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Huverts Boze. Lotars is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Stefanija Sture; children, Dzintars Sture and Vesma Sture, son in law Peter Jakobsson - Sture; granddaughter, Kristine Sture; sister-in-law, Janina Jucmane; brother-in-law, Janis Kazuss and dear cousin, Ausma Abele.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 7th at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment follows at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Stefanija Sture.
