Leonard Allen Clark
August 15, 1928 - September 28, 2017

Leonard A. Clark, 89, of Wichita, Kansas, and formerly of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, September 28, 2017.

A celebration of Leonard's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, October 14, 2017, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa, with military honors.

Leonard Allen Clark was born on August 15, 1928 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Ezra and Louise (Durkop) Clark. He married Barbara H. Allison on December 15, 1951 and she preceded him in death after 25 years of marriage. He later married Edith Lavon Hayzlett Moore in 1978.

Leonard served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Battleship USS Massachusetts. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he worked in many small shops and finally worked for Caterpillar in Mt. Joy, IA, retiring in 1977.

He lived for many years in Joplin, MO, briefly to Topeka KS, and finally to Wichita KS. He was a Lifetime member of the Edward W. Knapper VFW Post #6174. His other passions included fishing, mushroom hunting, playing music, and playing cards and dice with family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Edith of 39 years; brothers Dave (Loretta) Clark and Glenn (Mickey) Clark; a sister Darlene Kay Streets; sons Timothy (Geradette) Clark, Steve (Jacinta) Clark, Edwin Clark, Stanly Clark, Jason Clark, Kenny (Sherry) Hayzlett and Rodney (Yvonne) Hayzlett; daughters Vickey Clark, Linda (Jeff) Facemire, Debbie (Doug) Blain, Lora (Ed) Schiffelbein, and Judy (Garry) Nelson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry, brothers Walter, Pete, Henry, James and George, a sister Melva, a half-brother Basil Clark, half-sisters Anna Clark, Mary Mundon, Virginia Clark, and Alberta Louise Clark, and several grandchildren.
