Mary Kathleen Jameson was born May 19, 1938, in Emmetsburg, daughter of William P. and Kathleen (Deneen) Duffy. Mary Kay grew up in Emmetsburg moving to Algona and graduating from St. Cecelia Academy. She then attended secretarial school in Omaha, NE and moved to Washington, DC where she worked in a U.S. Government office.
Mary Kay married Willard J. "Bill" Jameson on October 31, 1958, in Suitland, MD. For a short time they lived in South Dakota and Fort Dodge, IA, until returning to Algona in 1960 where she worked for several banks and various businesses.
Prayer and her family were the most important part of Mary Kay's life. She especially loved her grandchildren and took every opportunity to be with them. She enjoyed baking and in earlier years she and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping. Mary Kay was an active member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, the Iowa Right to Life, the Cenacle Prayer Group and the Perpetual Adoration Group. She also was in multiple prayer and rosary groups and she ran the Marian Peace Center in Algona.
Mary Kathleen Jameson died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Kossuth Regional Healthcare Center, Algona, at the age of 65.
She is survived by three children, Kathy Salz and her husband Dale, Raleigh, NC, Tim Jameson and his wife Jennifer, West Des Moines, and Brian Jameson and his wife Machelle, Algona; ten grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, and Aleisha Salz, all of Raleigh, NC, Meredith, Nathan, Madeline, and Parker Jameson, all of West Des Moines, and Joshua, Grant and Shelby Jameson, all of Algona; one sister, Geraldine Duffy of Algona; two brothers, Patrick Duffy of Mission Viejo, CA, and Michael Duffy of Colfax; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill on September 20, 1979; and two brothers, Joseph Emmet and William S. Duffy.
