Ronald K. Kohlhaas was born April 10, 1948 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Wilfred and Dorothy (Gisch) Kohlhaas. He graduated from Garrigan High School in 1966 and was a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames. He was a former Knight's of Columbus Grand Knight, Boy Scout Troop leader, youth baseball and softball coach, and a past president of the Benton Booster Club. Ron, as avid fan of the Yankees, Lakers and St. Louis Rams, was a member o PIPA and the Shawnee Hills Appaloosa Horse Club. He headed the annual KC Tootsie Roll fund drive benefiting the mentally handicapped for many years.
Ron spent the past sixteen or so years caring for mentally and physically handicapped persons in various capacities, most recently working at the Warren G. Murray Development Center for the mentally and physically handicapped adults in Centralia, Illinois.
Ron loved spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren. Ron planned to retire and focus on his other love, raising Appaloosa horses with Linda full-time.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Linda, son Kyle and wife Christie Kohlhaas, Millstadt, Illinois, daughter Ronda and husband Kevin Reeves, Harvest Alabama, son Seth and wife Gretchen Kohlhaas, Montgomery, Alabama and grandchildren Benjamin, Morgan and Gideon Kohlhaas and Daniel, Monica and Jason Reeves.
Ron was a loving father, brother and grandfather whose cheerful outlook on life and devotion to his family will be sorely missed. The family requests memorials to be given in Ron's memory.
