Titonka - Darvin E. Bowers, 70, of Titonka, died Friday, September 02, 2005, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka, with the Reverend Dennis Redeker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with a flag folding presentation by the Titonka VFW Post # 4071.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Titonka, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Darvin Eugene Bowers was born at Buffalo Center, Iowa on September 4, 1934, son of Harold and Vivian (Charlson) Bowers. Darvin was baptized as an infant and was a member of the Ramsey Reformed Church. He attended the Buffalo Center Consolidated School, graduating in 1952. He then entered the United States Army in 1952, serving in the Korean War. After his return from the service he farmed with his parents for one year.

Darvin was united in marriage to Ronna Siehlmann on August 7, 1956 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They made their first home near German Valley on a farm. Darvin worked at the Farmers Co-op Oil Station for a year and a half and they began farming in 1958, moving to the Siehlmann home place just north of Ramsey Reformed Church. While farming they raised livestock and grain.

Darvin has driven school bus for the Titonka Consolidated School for the past 24 years. He was also active in the Titonka VFW Post # 4071 serving as past commander. Darvin and Ronna were licensed foster parents and have had several children in their home over the past years. Darvin loved working on the farm, driving bus and keeping busy. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors, and playing pool.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ronna Bowers of Titonka; six children, Barbara Murra and her husband Doug of Buffalo Center, Sharla Krein and her husband Terry of Forest City, Brenda Stucki and her husband Jeff of Woden, Kathy Kurtzleben of Forest City; Mike Bowers and his wife Annie of German Valley, and Rodney Bowers of Titonka; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; seven step-great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Roy Bowers and his wife Marcy of Mountain Home, AR, Arvid Bowers and his wife Pam of Star, ID, Glen Bowers and his special friend Joan of Colorado Springs, CO, Dotti McKee and her special friend Lowell Smith of Fairfax, VA, and Marlene Heikes and her husband Dick of Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons, Cory and Kevin Murra.
