Harvey B. Isebrand

Harvey Bennett Isebrand was born August 27, 1933 in Crystal Lake, Iowa son of John B. and Anna (Brower) Isebrand. His family moved to Titonka in 1936 where he grew up and graduated from Titonka Consolidated High School in 1951. He then worked with father as a carpenter. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He married Gladys Gustin in March, 1958. She preceded him in death in September, 1977.

Harvey was united in marriage to Nancy (Holland) Shepherd on August 12, 1978 in Indianola, Iowa. He continued to work construction with his father and his uncle until retiring because of health reasons. Harvey loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, camping, operating remote control airplanes, and tinkering.

Harvey B. Isebrand died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the Titonka Care Center at the age of 72. He had been a resident there since January, 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Isebrand of Titonka; six children, Ken Isebrand and his wife Judy of Titonka; Debra Isebrand and her husband Mark of Bunker Hill, IN, Karen Rurup and her friend Dave Schmidt of West Bend, Troy Isebrand and his wife Mary of Biloxi, MS, Todd Isebrand of Stevens Point, WI, and Brian Isebrand of Sioux City; a step-son, Paul Shepherd and his wife Hazel of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Delores Johnston and her friend Darwin Young of Apache Junction, AZ, and Joyce Ibsen and her husband Jim of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Jim Isebrand and his wife Jane of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Gladys.
