Janice Danek
June 28, 1932 - October 7, 2017

WESLACO - Janice Irene Ebarb (Danek) was born in Uvalde, Texas. She was blessed with good health for 85 years and died in Mercedes, Texas after a brief illness. She lived in Uvalde and Plainview, Texas, moved to Harlingen, Texas at the age of nine and recently moved to Weslaco, Texas. She graduated from Harlingen High School and received a licensed vocational nurse certification. She played tennis in high school, sang and played the piano. She was a professional artist, received many awards and displayed her seascapes at the Beachcomber Art Show, Dallas State Fair, San Antonio River Walk Art Show, and other venues. She was a member of the San Antonio and Harlingen Art Leagues. She was the bookkeeper for Rio Mechanical, Inc. for many years. She loved animals and had a variety in her lifetime. She enjoyed going to rodeos, fishing, bowling, country music, collecting music boxes, and watching Dallas Cowboy football games.

She was preceded in death by her mother (Etta Mae Baker Ebarb), father (Alvin Dewey Ebarb), brother (Alvin Ebarb, Jr.) husbands Laverne Meade, Guy Gilbert, and Charles Danek.

She is survived by her sister Lynda Janan Glass (Jim) from Monroe, LA, daughters Wanda Gilbert Morley (Bob) from Harlingen, Texas and Carol Gilbert Phillips (Phil) from Costa Rica, her six grandchildren, William Morley, Jodi Morley, Lisha Bauer Garza, Michelle Bauer, William Bauer, and Carrie Phillips Lowery, 10 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.

"Janice was my bridesmaid at my wedding May 18, 1947 to George Glynn. She wore a yellow spring dress as the ceremony took place on the back patio of my parent's home in Uvalde, Tex."
