"I sat in 4th grade class with Mrs. Vande Lune (and her granddaughter Amy) back in the day. She was a loving and strict teacher, that held us to the fire and made sure we learned. I remember being prepared for a field trip to the circus and then getting sick and missing out! She was sure to bring me a souvenir and tell me of all the details. I remember seeing her in church in a return trip home, some time back, and she went out of her way to talk to my kid and tell them she was my teacher. I was proud, and a little relived when she didn't reveal all of my secrets...."

"I will also remember Leona as my cheerleader when I started classes at Iowa State as a nontraditional student. She had walked that road and always had words of encouragement for me. It was good to touch base with her again when I would see her at Prairie Vista during the time my dad was there. "
