From 1989 to 1994 he was appointed as Deputy Permanent Representative to the Trinidad and Tobago Mission to the United Nations in New York. From 1994 to 2003 he once again worked at Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in Washington DC, until his retirement.

Lennox and his wife Myrna relocated to South Florida in June 2003. He kept busy with the gym and various social and cultural activities until he became ill in 2012. He fought this illness for 5 years, until he succumbed to the effects at age 79.

"After a long absence, Lennox has revived in my thoughts, and in the condolences am now passing on to his family. Am dredging up memories of being taught, possibly by him at QRC in the latter half of the sixties and having taking the same career trajectory as him, of exchanging memos while we both were either at the Ministry of External Affairs, Brasilia, Toronto? or Caracas. Cool and competent is how I remember him. RIP, Lennox."
