In loving memory of

David Kent Hart
November 1, 1947 - October 10, 2017

          David Kent Hart, 69, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

          David was born November 1, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Donald Ray and Ruby Francis (Galbraith) Hart. He grew up in the Griswold and Avoca area until his family moved to Atlantic in 1961. He attended the Atlantic High School and was in the Army National Guard from 1967 until 1973.

          On April 13, 1974, David married Joyce Acker in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He worked at Corell Contractor as a foreman for site work for 34 years. David was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 234 for 40 years and was also a member of the Elks in Atlantic.

          David enjoyed going on road trips with his friends, spending time with family and friends, going to Alabama in February, sitting in his recliner and watching the Weather Channel and RFD TV. He also enjoyed the time spent with his dog, Bailey.

          He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnna Jorgensen.

          David is survived by his wife, Joyce of Atlantic, IA; his children, Tracy (Bob) Jacobson of Fontanelle, IA, Emily (Scott) Yates of McCool Junction, NE, and Jonathan Hart of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Zachary Jacobson, Cody Jacobson, McKenna Yates and Colby Yates; a brother, Colin (Penny) Hart of Ankeny, IA; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.         

          Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA, with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.

          Memorials may be left to the family's wishes to be designated at a later date.
