Alden William Struecker was born on July 27, 1928, in Kossuth County, Iowa, to William H. and Emma Kroger Struecker. He received his education in the country school system near Whittemore, Iowa. After his schooling, Alden helped his parents on the family farm. Alden served his country in the U.S. Army. He took his basic training at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He was married to Mildred S. Bonnstetter on January 6, 1951, at West Bend, Iowa. Alden then was sent to Japan for Engineer School. He was sent to Korea, where he fought at Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Alden farmed with his mother for one year. He and Mildred then farmed in Garfield Township from 1954-1957. The couple moved to Lotts Creek Township and farmed from 1958-1986. In 1986 he farmed in Fern Valley Township in Palo Alto County until his retirement in 1995. Alden continued living on the farm.

Alden was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Whittemore. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Post #2541 in Algona, Iowa. Alden enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and playing cards.

He died on Friday, August 31, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Alden was 79.

Surviving are his sons, Roger Struecker , Fenton, Iowa, Gary Struecker and wife, Renee, Burt, Iowa and Mike Struecker and special friend, Donna Schneider, Whittemore, Iowa. Alden is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Brenda Meyer and husband, Nathan, Amy Struecker, Melissa Struecker, Jeff Struecker and 1 step grandson, Troy Haayer. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Elda Schlei, Fenton, Iowa, Retta Hanselman, West Bend, Iowa, Alice Wehrspann, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Howard Struecker, Norman Struecker, Gordon Struecker and wife, Maggie, all of West Bend, Iowa, Willis Struecker and wife, Laverta, Whittemore, Iowa and Janice Peterson and husband, William, Moorland, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred in 1968, 3 brothers, Glen, Carl and Clarence and 1 sister, Esther Gatton.
